Spoonflower journey

2025/12/06

I am delighted to share that I was recently featured on Instagram and on Spoonflower‘s home page as an independent artist, alongside some of the most talented and successful artists on this platform, whom I look up to.
This is a wonderful surprise and an honor for me. Thank you so much! It fills me with gratitude and motivation to continue.

For those who don’t know, Spoonflower is a platform that offers fabric, wallpaper, and home decor, made to order using unique designs from independent artists worldwide. It is a print-on-demand service in the USA, and a large marketplace connecting artists, brands, hobbyists, and interior designers. It is a huge library of designs, where everyone is free to offer designs for sale and receive royalties from each sale made on this platform.

I thought it would be nice to take the opportunity to take a quick look back at my journey on Spoonflower, and reveal some interesting facts:

I joined Spoonflower in 2022 when I uploaded my first designs on the platform. I continuously created patterns and participated in the design challenges, testing my creativity on different topics. I have entered 92 design challenges so far and have had 5 winning designs. My Vibrant Paisley was the highest ranking, reaching 13th place.
I built a portfolio with around 500 designs in my shop on this platform (including color and size variations).
My best-selling design is Tiger Spirit, and this design was never entered in any challenge.
My earnings started slowly and grew every year. I make most earnings from wallpaper.
My designs were featured in a few curated collections:
Warm Minimalism wallpaper, Boho Sunset trending apparel, Cabincore Christmas, Printed Wovens, Dynamic Purples

What I love about Spoonflower is its creative community. I discovered artists here and made connections. I enjoy seeing all this ongoing creativity and new designs flowing in. It motivates me to stay creative, be part of this, be relevant to the market, and create art with purpose.

What works for me?
I focus on quality, not quantity, my style refinement, and authenticity.
I go as far as removing designs from the platform that I no longer align with or are just not good enough.
I see it’s the opposite of the trend of increasing the number of designs uploaded by artists and ‘AI wannabes’. I just don’t believe in this; it is not sustainable.
With Spoonflower, I understood the importance of SEO, or what it means to be found online. Search algorithms can not be ignored, especially if you want to be found in the ocean of designs or data. I pay attention to keywords and proper descriptions so the design can be found among trending content.
It doesn’t mean I follow trends blindly; I am aware of them, but I feel more and more I want to ‘do my thing’. And I can see it works.

My future on Spoonflower?
You will see more designs, more style refinement, better quality, collections, fewer challenges, staying true to what brings me joy in pattern design, and continuation of what can be called:
‘modern patterns with abstract and nature-based motifs in a style stretching from bold and fun to elegant and bohemian’

At the end of this long post (wow), I want to say that each time you choose my designs, it is an honor and a reward to know they enter someone’s life, add a bit of color and individuality, and hopefully, even a creative spark to your space.
I appreciate your support!
